When life handed For Love & Lemons co-founder Gillian Rose Kern a little lemon, she and her partner, Laura Hall, began making the most adorable children’s clothing. What else would you expect from a For Love & Lemons girls’ line?  

Gillian and Laura started For Love & Lemons in 2011 and, according to their website, creating a For Love & Lemons kids line was definitely something they wanted to do… someday.  The idea was that someday they’d have children of their own and would, of course, want to design adorable clothes for them.  (You probably know where this is going, right?)  Well, someday came sooner than they expected. Gillian had a baby and you could say, Lil' Lemons was born!  

There were lots of women who had become addicted to the distinctive designs from For Love & Lemons with kids and they all celebrated. With good cause! The Lil’ Lemons line is all about:

• Clothes that are easy to put on
• Fabrics that are really soft and that aren’t toxic
• And – because this is a For Love & Lemons kids’ line – a fashion forward aesthetic 

“We want the best for our little ones, so we worked hard on all the elements of the line,” Gillian explains on their website. “We are very hands on with the pieces, we give them to our other mama friends to test out and give us feedback about fit and function before adding the piece to the collection. We are also proud to say the entire collection is made in downtown LA.” 

That last bit is important. Producing the clothes in the U.S. reflects Gillian and Laura’s desire to minimize their environmental impact.  When you combine that goal with an insistence of superior quality, you get something very special. Lately, the For Love & Lemons girls line has had shoppers seeing stars! And those sparkly stars look absolutely lovely across the Lil Lemons North Star Velvet Dress in Pomegranate. We also offer the North Star Velvet Dress in Black.  Both are made with a dreamy soft velvet and feature a round neckline, swingy hemline and fixed sequin star appliqués for a twinkling finish.
