Welcome Girls! Check Out Our New Workspace.
OMG! I am soooooooo excited to show you ladies our new Me & Kay headquarters! I started Me & Kay 4 years ago, it is quite a story. I am going to do another post more in depth about that. Just to sum it up I was a young mom, too young really, I had no idea about life, business nothing really. Lol. At the time I was full time stay at home mom. I wanted to find a job that was creative and fun yet super flexible. I wanted to be able to pick Kayla up from school, go to her plays, volunteer at her school to help in the lunch room. It didn't take me long to realize I would have more luck spoting a unicorn then finding that perfect job that caters to all my wants and needs. So I decided to try to make money doing free-lance work. I had acquired some skills through art school pre-Kayla, I thought it had all been a waste of time and money because I never exactly entered the working world after but I couldn't have been more wrong. I started doing some free-lance graphic design work ( SO BORING ) and started to take on some photography clients. I had learned my way around photoshop in art school so I had a good base to work from. The pay wasn't great but it was creative, and I could totally work around Kay's schedule. I did that for a while before I realized I really did not like having deadlines & clients. It sounds really bad I know but it's the truth. That's when I decided I needed to start an online business. Why I thought that, I have no idea. I had no experience what so ever, it actually made no sense looking back at it. It's funny originally I was going to sells kids sunglasses only, why I don't know, but that was what I was going to so. Luckily my shipment of sunglasses didn't make it through customs so I had to go back to the drawing board. (Thank you to the customs agent who declined that shipment) LOL! That's when my next great idea came to me and I decided to do an Online Girl's Clothing Store. For 4 years I busted my butt trying to not only figure out the clothing business but also the crazy online sales world. I had no mentors, I didn't know anyone in the business, or any online business for that matter, I did however have Youtube, I swear you can learn anything on there. I ran Me & Kay out of my home for 4 long years. I always dreamed of having my own office, where I could have everything organized perfectly, a place where I could shut out the world and just create. I am so proud to let you ladies know I did it :) FINALLY!!!!! It took some time to figure it out but I did it and I could not be more excited to share it with you.
I wanted to create a happy place that was totally instagram-able. I place that truly represented our brand. I included lots or colors, rainbow, and fun.
I am totally obsessed with the random rugs all over :) And how cute is that couch, an amazon find that is so perfect for an office not so much for a living room. It's a bit stiff to say the least, but who care when it looks so cute!
Rainbow pencil holder filled with fuzzy pens, a must for any girl boss :) It says I am fun and approachable. HAHAHA and not mature at all!
The front is our office space and the back is our work stations. We have hair & make up, packing station, photoshoot area, styling stuff and of coarse our inventory room. Ladies you don't need too much space for your first place. Just get creative and everything can fit! You can make it work.
